Attorney General Announces Inquiry into President's Rivals and Epstein Links
On Friday, Pam Bondi designated Jay Clayton to lead an probe into opponents of the President and their connections with Jeffrey Epstein. This decision came hours after the president directed her to launch the probe.
In a statement, Bondi highlighted Jay Clayton as “a highly skilled and reliable legal expert”. The official remarked, “As with all matters, the department will pursue this with urgency and integrity to deliver answers to the American people.”
This action contrasts with a recent memorandum from justice department officials which indicated that the Epstein files lacked grounds for further inquiries. As per the document, investigators “did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties”
Trump Calls for Scrutiny of Democrats in Epstein Matter
This news coincides with increasing pressure from Trump on congressional Republicans to oppose the full release of Epstein-related documents before an upcoming House vote next week. Many Republicans are expected to support the disclosure.
Newly public emails from Jeffrey Epstein have spotlighted Trump’s previous connections with the convicted criminal, including information that he was more aware of Epstein’s actions than earlier acknowledged.
On Friday, Trump declared he would direct the DOJ to investigate connections between Epstein and Democratic figures, specifically naming Bill Clinton, Larry Summers and Reid Hoffman. Paradoxically, he also described the “Epstein situation” as a “deception”.
